DECORATING TAKING PRIORITY

some more shots from Showbus on Sunday in the sunshine at Duxford near Cambridge. The old East Yorkshire livery looked so nice , I think they should bring it back.
Arriva group put in a good variety of entries to the show.

as usual there were a few suprises and presentations of newly restored vehicles

although LT made up a fair proportion of entrants it was mostly RMs and later with RTs, Gs MS etc low on the list, this Cub was a nice addition.
We have continued to be very busy with decorating, last night we tidied up my editing room and pit back everything in the cupboards then started to prepare the spare bedroom, we got as far as painting the ceiling, a messy job and tonight hope to get all the walls done. Mandy has collected the ( large) painting we purchased from National Trust shop in Cornwall.

BUSY DECORATING HERES SHOWBUS

yes it really was unbroken sunshine all the way through Sunday at Duxford, the finale of the entries was the annual gold run, this year a vehicle from each of the 60 years of Ian Allan's Buses magazine which started back in 1949. The splendid and unique City of Oxford livery on the AEC was typical of an eclectic mixture both in the parade and amongst entrants in general. High costs of entry may have limited numbers but they missed a splendid day out.
a shot really to show how warm it was on Sunday, normally they'd be inside trying to keep warm

spot on colours for the Eastbourne Regent V East Lancs bodywork just like I went to school on in later years

the final entry on the Gold Run for 2009

The Exeter Daimler shows the large exhibit hangars at Duxford.
Busy decorating last night, started on my study, just paintwork detail to do tonight then get it all back to working order and start on spare bedroom.

MORE SATURDAY CAMBRIDGE BUSES

Whippets have a lot of 'new' buses but the real new ones are awaiting the bus way opening

CAMBRIDGE YESTERDAY

some idea of the bus variety in Cambridge as visited on Saturday before Showbus. Today its been a glorious day weather wise at Duxford. The down side was that few people attended this year compared with the past, add the huge number of stands and takings were well down for the 3rd consecutive year placing behind Lathalmond and even Herne Bay.

The guided bus way still looks a way off opening although publicity states later 2009.We got home about 8, less than 3 hours which wasn't bad going, beans on toast for tea!

SHOWBUS ON THE WAY

in the mean time lets go to San Francisco although no flowers growing in these scenes, just trolleys and trams and cable cars, this was our first visit, weather was a bit iffy.

Today we git the entry pack for Showbus, a bit late in the day but no problem. The weather looks set fine for the weekend, lets hope it stays that way. We are preparing to decorate the upstairs rooms starting with my study. Tonight I've finished Coventry DVD and working on the Sardinia visit.

BACK IN MILAN

lucky dip from the negs to digital pile back in Milan many years ago now
hmm, don't like the specs at that time!

today dropped discs and negs at Asda, dropped covers off to be printed at Ellesmere Port, busy at work and then home to clear front garden weeds and trim hedges at front. Then carry on editing plus yet another YouTube post, remember hit the adverts, it costs you nothing but makes us money to cover costs. Mandy had hair done, she did all right at Sheffield, new handbag, purse and jeans from Meadowhall, not going again, didn't take anything like that so cost more than we took.

SHEFFIELD MISSED OPORTUNITIES

an interesting selection of buses including some familiar and less familiar buses, new and old.
all ready for Showbus next week?

ex Maidstone & Dist and Hasting, the oldie Sheffield Atlantean, unloved in it's home city but lovingly restored

another new restoration project from Blackpool

a long story on this super Chesterfield Leyland repatriated from Germany I think.
numbers of people and vehicles were well down despite the great sunny weather, hence this our second attempt to get the event to take off for us failed dismally, we'll look for another venue to replace it next year on the calendar, there are still many to chose from.
Tired now after so many early starts and travelling plus my continued painful bits, neuro surgeon appointment tomorrow morning. Still editing, getting covers done, nearly through the South West trip.
